What happens when you need a
Friend and there’s no one there?
Having no one to turn to
in a moment of need is a
trying experience for anyone, but especially for the
poor. Are you willing to be a friend of the poor?
For nearly two centuries, the poor and needy of the world have
found a friend in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. This year,
on September 25th, the Society will hold its third
annual nationwide Friends of the Poor® Walk. We invite you to
participate and become Friends of the Poor®, too. Pledges made
on behalf of registered walkers in a given community will
benefit those most in need in that same community.
To register as a walker, to pledge support for a walker, or for
more information, go to
www.svdpfriendsofthepoorwalk.org. To volunteer, use the
local contact information below.
Please join us. Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes and find out
how good it feels to give.

THE STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE NEEDS YOU
You often hear “Stewardship is a
'Way of Life’ at SMM”, but what does that mean? We
have an active Stewardship committee, but what do they do?
Stewardship is an attitude of the mind and heart that is
Stewardship is an attitude of the mind and
heart that is expressed in action – a way of living. The
Stewardship Committee assists our pastor in developing that Way
of Life. The Stewardship Committee and its member‟s work with
our current ministries to maintain the parish Stewardship
process. This process involves educating and communicating this
“Way of Life” to our parishioners through events like our annual
Ministry Fair and Commitment Weekends. But we would like to do
more!
The committee is currently looking for SMM
parishioners who want to become more involved in their parish
and who want to help us bring the parishioners and ministries
together; kind of like SMM‟s own mini spiritual marketing
department. What makes a good committee member? (1 Peter) said,
“each one, has received a gift, use it to serve one another as
good stewards of God’s varied grace.” Do you see stewardship as
a spiritual act, as an opportunity and have a love for our
parish and our church?
Stewardship is most effective with a variety
of talents or skills. If we have peaked your interest please
contact Linda Barry at 770-253-6332 or lindalbarry@starband.net
for more information.

Notice to all of our church members: please be aware that St.
Mary Magdalene offers a Sunday mass translated by our
interpreters in American Sign Language (ASL). Please let anyone
who may be interested know that we now offer this service.
Our special thanks to our interpreters for their valuable
ministry.
Help us reach our Target!
St. Mary Magdalene's target to become a 100% Stewardship Parish is a reachable goal if every parishioner completes a Commitment Card.
