Adult Confirmation
Welcome!
In the Sacrament of Confirmation, we receive an outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands and anointing with Holy Chrism by the bishop. This connects us more deeply with the Church and equips us to accomplish our mission within God’s kingdom.
Who is Adult Confirmation for?
Any Catholic over the age of 19, who has celebrated the Sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist, and who has no marriage impediment, may enter the adult formation process to approach the Sacrament of Confirmation. Other Adult Christians may also seek Eucharist and Confirmation to complete the Sacraments of Initiation.
What is preparation like?
The preparation for adults is quite different from that of children or young teens. The process is one of a small-group, adult learning experience. The focus of the program is to connect the Sacraments of the Catholic Faith to our experiences in our everyday lives. For many who participate in this program, it is an opportunity to see, for the first time, the faith of the Church with an adult understanding. Ideas formed in childhood are challenged, developed and nuanced.
