Monastery of the Holy Spirit
This Order is a monastic institute wholly ordered to contemplation. The monks dedicate themselves to the worship of God in a hidden life within the monastery under the Rule of St Benedict. They lead a monastic way of life in solitude and silence, in assiduous prayer and joyful penitence as defined in these Constitutions, thus rendering to the divine majesty a service that is at once humble and noble.

The work of the monk is primarily to sing praises to God and to pray for the world.
Meanwhile, the Rule of St. Benedict directs the monks to work for their living “by their own hands.” (https://www.trappist.net/abbey-trades)

Catholic Relief Services, Second Collection – March 13-14

Our parish will take up The Catholic Relief Services Collection
on March 13-14 weekend.

Funds from this Collection  provide food to the hungry, support displaced refugees, and bring Christ’s love and
mercy to vulnerable people here and abroad.  Through your generosity, six Catholic agencies help Jesus in the guise of the vulnerable refugee, the immigrant family, and the poor and marginalized.

Please prayerfully consider contributing to
The Catholic Relief Services Collection.

Archdiocesan consecration to St. Joseph, Friday, March 19

Dear Friends in Christ:

As you know, our Holy Father has called this the Year of St. Joseph (Dec. 8, 2020 – Dec. 8, 2021). In anticipation of the Solemnity of St. Joseph on March 19, I am asking all the faithful of the archdiocese to join me in a novena to St. Joseph, starting on Wednesday, March 10, and ending with the celebration of the Holy Mass at the Cathedral of Christ the King on Friday, March 19, at 12:10 p.m. For the novena, we will use the Litany of St. Joseph, available here. During the Mass on Friday, March 19, I will consecrate the Archdiocese of Atlanta to the intercession and protection of St. Joseph. The Mass will be available via livestream or on the archdiocesan Facebook page. Please pray with me during these days and participate in the Mass as you are able.

Following the novena and consecration, I encourage all parishes to consider including in your Prayers of the Faithful during Mass the following prayer (or adaptation thereof):

Father in Heaven, You called St. Joseph to be the first guardian of our Lord Jesus Christ in the tabernacle of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s womb. Grant us, by his intercession, a renewed love of Jesus in His Most Blessed Sacrament and the grace to care for Christ’s body by caring for our brothers and sisters. We pray to the Lord…

An adapted form of the prayer of consecration will be added to the website, and holy cards will be made. I encourage families and all individuals to pray this prayer and to consider other ways to observe the Year of St. Joseph, keeping in mind the special indulgences attached to the Litany of St. Joseph and other prayers during this year. See the website for more information.

Please be assured of my prayers for a blessed Lent. St. Joseph, pray for us!

The Most Reverend Gregory John Hartmayer, OFM Conv.

A Seven Week Parish Lenten Study -THE SEARCH

WHY ARE HERE? WHAT’S LIFE ALL ABOUT?
Sometimes we get so caught up in the depth of our faith that we forget what it was like to first wrestle with the big questions – Who am I? What am I searching for? What’s our shared story? St. John the Evangelist Catholic School – Pre-K through 8th grade

At SJE, Admissions are going strong and we still have time for applicants to apply for the 2021-2022 school year. I know many families within the local Parishes may be looking for another alternative for schooling next year. We would love to share with them the amazing things happening here at SJE.

2021 CRS Rice Bowls

Lent beings on Feb. 17 – 40 days of preparation. It’s a journey of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, which culminates in the great celebration of Easter. Every year on Ash Wednesday, Catholic Relief Services launches CRS Rice Bowl, their program to help guide you and your family through Lent.

This year, CRS takes you on weekly virtual trips to Madagascar 🇲🇬 , El Salvador 🇸🇻 and Timor-Leste 🇹🇱. These stories are examples of the communities where your Lenten alms are changing lives.

Lastly, stories are accompanied by a simple, meatless recipe that you and your family can prepare on Fridays during Lent.

Transformation awaits this Lent!
Individuals and groups are invited to join us for a fruitful and fulfilling Lenten season as we journey to Encounter the Heart of God.

A mere ten minutes per day in prayer or reflection can enable you to: Experience God’s Love More Personally, Replace Anxiety with More Peace, Discern God’s Subtle Heart Movements, “Hear” God Communicate via Scripture, Connect with Others in the Private Lenten Challenge FB Community, and Leader’s Guide and Support for Groups.
